What to Bring

Mandatory Riding Gear

For your safety and to comply with our participation requirements, all riders must bring and wear the following:

  • Helmet – must meet AS1698 standards or equivalent.
  • Eye Protection – either goggles or a visor-equipped helmet.
  • Gloves – full-fingered for protection and grip.
  • Motorcycle Boots – MX or adventure-style, ankle-covering boots only.
  • Protective Clothing – long-sleeved jersey and full-length riding pants.

Strongly Recommended

To enhance your comfort and protection on the Otway terrain, we also recommend:

  • Body Armour – chest/back protection provides added safety.
  • Knee Guards or Braces – for rugged trails and peace of mind.
  • Elbow Guards – additional protection for your arms.
  • Weatherproof Jacket – mornings in the Otways can be brisk, even in summer.
  • Padded Shorts – ideal for reducing discomfort during long rides.

Ambulance & Travel Insurance

Riding in remote areas comes with added risks. Please ensure:

  • You have ambulance cover that includes remote area or air evacuation. In Victoria, you can obtain coverage through Ambulance Victoria. Membership covers emergency road and air ambulance services, as well as treatment without transport.
  • We highly recommend travel insurance with trip cancellation cover, to protect against unforeseen circumstances that may disrupt your plans.

A little planning now can save a lot of trouble later – ride safe and be prepared.
